TIPTOE THRU THE TULIPS

This weekend, Jim and I went to the Wooden Shoe Bulb Company in Woodburn, about 40 minutes from our house. It is a beautiful place with lots to do for all ages.

Guess who?
Here's who.
It's called the Wooden Shoe because the Iverson family is from Holland. They are our friends. They have been farming the ground for 60 years and this is the 25th anniversary of the Tulip Festival. These wooden shoes are a little big for Jim, but . . . . . .
you can find just the right size in the gift shop. Our friend, Nels, knows how to carve them. It is a family tradition.
There are fun things to do at the tulip festival, like photo op moments,
ducky races, by propelling your ducky down the rain gutters using the hand pump for water,
all kinds of fun activities, like the jump and bump houses, vendors, yummy food, animal petting
the tulip shoe ride,
and my personal favorite, the Cow Train. Notice there are as many adults as kids on this ride.
But the BEST part is the TULIPS!!!! LOTS of gorgeous tulips. The multi colored ones are Jim's favorite.
There are so many varieties.

My favorite were the purple ones.

So BEAUTIFUL, tulips as far as the eye could see.

There were also several old tractors. Jim really liked that. We sure had a fun day together. Hope you are also enjoying the signs of spring.

HAPPY EASTER WITH GRANDKIDS

Crystal, Payton, and Owen arrived on March 30th and stayed til April 2nd. We loved their visit.
Grandpa and Payton are doing art work on the dry erase board. But one thing our younger grandchildren can count on to happen for every visit are the "3 B's" ---
Belly buzzing
Bath time in the jacuzzi
and ball time. Owen is such a little ball boy. He will play any kind of ball for hours. Even though you can't see his face, there's a ball in his hands and we know it is him.
On Thurs. morning, Payton, Crystal and I colored eggs. Owen was down for a nap. Crystal calls him a "destruction team", so egg dying was out of the question for him.
Oh, so pretty!
A job well done and lots of fun.
On Thurs. night Ryan, Addy, Sophia and Alex arrived about 10:30pm. They had waited til school was out. This is the beginning of their Spring Break.
When they woke up on Friday morning, Grandpa Bunny hid 65 plasic eggs with candy and money in them and the hunt ensued.

Checking the eggy treasures
Later that morning The Smith Family left for Boardman, Oregon to have Easter with all the other Smiths.
We loved having all the grandkids, minus one, our little Dylan (he was in CA with Chris & Kelly).
We love our kids and grandkids. It was great to see them and have fun this Easter season. We also love the real meaning of Easter. The resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We love Him for the sacrifice He paid for us and we know that He Lives and we can return to Him someday. Hope your Easter was nice.

WINGS OF WONDER

We made 2 trips to this wonderful place in Buena Vista called Wings of Wonder. Kevin and I took Payton and Owen on Mar. 31st. Then Jim and I took Addy and Sophia on April 2nd. It is a butterfly house. It's 80 degrees inside and very humid, but so beautiful. 400 butterflies fly freely all about while you watch and sometimes get to hold them. The garden they fly in has gorgeous plants and trees and a little pond with frogs in it. Baby quail play hide and seek among the plants. And at then end, there is a reptile house, no touching allowed there, thank goodness.

Check out my sleeve.
This little "bum rider" stayed on Jim almost the whole time we were there.

At first Sophia wasn't too sure about touching the butterflies, but then she liked it.Addy loved every minute.
The butterflies are on the walkways, so you have to be careful with every step.
Payton was amazed.
Owen was curious.
Kevin was on "Owen watch" to make sure there wasn't any butterfly casualties.I would love a garden greenhouse like this.
