JIM AND KEVIN DO CHURCH PLAY

Back in March, Jim was wrestling with the idea of participating in the church play. I convinced him to go ahead and do it. The title is "Savior of the World". It tells about the events leading up to the Savior's birth. Jim likes to sing and thought about being in the choir part of the play. And sing he did. He ended up playing 4 different people in the play. Several people played in multiple roles.

It was quite a professional play. This is the main stage backdrop. At the end, there is even a live baby Jesus, who was awake and never once cried, all 5 nights.
There was an orchestra that accompanied the choir and singing scenes of the play. There was even a harp, which you can't see here.

One night Kevin had to deliver something to Jim while he was at practice. Kevin came home and said they asked him to be a prop person. That's why he's the "man in black". He moves the scenery and sets up the stage in between acts.

Here's my 2 little thesbians. Jim's angel costume with Kevin.

Jim is the tallest angel on the back row, right side. In all of Jim's parts he sang with the people on stage, yet he never had any lines. I asked, "How did you land playing 4 characters in the play with no speaking lines." His reply, "Just lucky."

Before the show goes on, first comes makeup. Jim was so funny about it, having never wore makeup. He had 5 different stations, first foundation, then eyebrows, "aging wrinkles", eyes and

his favorite, lipstick, just kidding.

I don't think we have to worry about anyone picking him up for a drag queen. Under the lights of the stage, he looks quite normal, but under normal lighting . . . yikes!

He plays the part of a temple priest.

He's in the center of this scene.

He's a townsperson.

He's the rabbi that marries Joseph and Mary.

Here's the end of the marriage scene.

It was a huge commitment of time. Plus Jim was the member of the Stake that oversaw the whole play, called the people to be the director, costume makers, set designers, and all those "behind the scene" folks. After 5 nights of performances, it has come to a close. The curtain is drawn one last time. On Sat. night, with a satisfied sigh of relief, Jim said, "it's over". Good job Jim and Kevin!!!!
